There are some nights where I struggle to find interesting things to put into my performance reports. Then there are the nights where they write themselves. There are a few things you need to know before you read this post. The first thing is that my show is in a 3/4 thrust and the audience sits very close to the stage. The second thing is one of the actors in the show is basically DC theatre royalty, we will call this guy Francis, just 'cause I like the name and shouldn't use his real one. Now on to the story . . .Tonight at my show a cell phone rang, in the second row, barely four feet from the actors. The owner then, and I swear I am not making this up, answered the phone and proceeded to have a conversation. Francis, who was in the middle of a speech stopped and turned to the young woman in utter shock. The rest of the actors didn't really know what to do, they just waited for someone to take the lead. Then Francis asks "Is she done?" One of the principles turns to look at this chick who had sheepishly ended her conversation then turns back to Francis and says "I think she's done." Scene continues as if nothing happened.

I have been absent from Prince of Swords for far too long due to certain factors beyond my control, factors which include but are not limited to: the Washington Metro system, a certain british knight, William Shakespeare, the Apple computer company, my family, Actors' Equity Association, the Helen Hayes awards, Bennington College, Ford Motor Company, the Eisnehower Interstate system, the Earth's seasonal rotation and gravity. But rest assured that I have conquered each and every one of the items listed above and will resume normal posting momentarily.
